Accounting Manager

We’re looking for an Accounting Manager with exceptional attention to detail and the breadth of skills to manage all types of company transactions. Given ChefSteps’s small size, this role will support all teams in financial and accounting decisions. WHO WE ARE

ChefSteps is an online retailer and manufacturing company. You have some accounting experience in both e-commerce and manufacturing. Also, given the tens of thousands of transactions occurring each month, you are comfortable with accessing and searching large amounts of data using Microsoft Excel or other tools to find and reconcile errors. ChefSteps is also expanding rapidly as a marketplace for the sale of other sellers’ goods. A well-rounded candidate will also have experience with marketplace-related transactions and accounting processes (example: Amazon’s third-party seller services).

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • As ChefSteps’s primary accountant, your responsibilities will be to manage and ensure completion of all accounting processes within the company:
  • Manage Accounts Payable (AP): Ensure all vendors get paid via any type of payment method, process expense reports
  • Manage AR: Ensure accuracy and collection of shopping cart (e-commerce) transactions and other revenue sources
  • Manage Payroll: Run payroll with full benefits and account appropriately
  • Manage FP&A: Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to drive financial planning and spend accountability; help to implement ChefSteps BoD directives
  • Manage Treasury: Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards
  • Manage Tax Filings: Report and pay Washington State/Seattle sales and excise taxes, WA PPA taxes, and IRS filings, including compliance with regulatory reporting/guidelines
  • Manage monthly and yearly closing activities, account reconciliations, audit preparations, and reporting of P&L, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows
  • Manage bookkeeping processes
  • Manage onboarding process for new employees and new contractors (with respect to contract, IRS documentation, accounting documentation, equipment purchasing, and expense report training)

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • 5+ years of accounting experience (at least some experience related to e-commerce and marketplace)
  • Bachelor’s degree; accounting preferred
  • CPA (preferred)
  • MBA (preferred)
  • Advanced MSFT Excel (Functions, Pivots, VBA); SQL is a plus
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online or equivalent accounting software
  • Working knowledge of relevant Washington State regulations governing small businesses, taxation, and reporting
  • Working knowledge of tax-reporting systems (example: Avalara) preferred
